The voltage regualtor controls the amount of power moving from the battery to the cartridge. The higher the amount of power the larger amount of product will be moved through the cartridge. How long the battery lasts really depends on how heavy of a smoker you are and how frequently you are using the device. It can take up to 3 hours to charge depending on the outlet your using.
